Why counseling?

There is nothing more powerful or vital to our emotional well-being as CONNECTION. Humans are hard-wired with a need and craving for it. Maintaining those ties, however, are far more complicated and less instinctive for many of us. When we feel a lack of connection with our partner, our children, our family, our community – or even ourselves – we compensate for that loss with addiction; anger; depression; isolation; anxiety; racing thoughts, and other unhealthy patterns of behavior. These inner conflicts often stem from unresolved trauma or long past issues that were left unsettled. This is where counseling can step in and, with the use of modalities like cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), interpersonal therapy, or talk therapy (as examples) help you feel your true emotions to understand the impact of faulty thinking; and mindfulness, to bring your focus to the present.

Why Mark?

I understand that every individual is unique, which is why I will tailor my therapeutic approach to fit the patient, rather than the other way around. I take the time to understand who you are as a person, as well as: What your short term and long-term goals for counseling are. What process will best serve you on this journey you have entrusted me to guide and walk with you on. My mission is to provide a supportive, caring and safe environment to help you achieve emotional well-being, and to bring balance to your life.  As we work together to address your primary concerns, I hope to empower you with the skills you need to heal from your pain, grow from your struggles, and shed unwanted thoughts and actions.  Once you understand yourself at this deeper level, you can move forward from “stuckness” into liberation and choice. With this self-understanding comes lasting insight, which enables you to more easily find solutions to future problems as they arise.
